Wondering what to do in Staffordshire this February half term? With short winter days, chilly temperatures, and a near-guarantee of at least a couple of rainy afternoons, this school holiday can be surprisingly tricky to plan.

The good news is that Staffordshire offers a strong mix of indoor attractions, outdoor adventures, and special half-term events designed to keep kids entertained whatever the weather. From museum workshops and castle trails to family-friendly shows and hands-on activities, this guide pulls together some of the best February half term events and days out with kids in Staffordshire for 2026.

1. Crack the Capybara Code at Peak Wildlife Park

Set on the edge of the Staffordshire Peak District you will find the wonderful Peak Wildlife Park. Come up close and personal with lemurs, penguins, otters, read squirrels to name just a few! You can also book a unique and memorable animal encounter and ‘be a keeper’!

Over half term put your detective skills to the test to crack the Capybara code. Yes that’s right, meet Marmalade and Clementine the Capybaras. Follow the trail around the park and uncover fascinating capybara facts along the way… then collect the missing letters from each sign, solve the anagram, and reveal the secret word.

Tickets start from From £17.95 for a child and £21.95 for an adult. Peak Wildlife Park also offers an annual membership offering unlimited entry to the park for the year.

2. Trentham Estate

Love Trentham Trail is running from February 14, 2026 – February 22, 2026. You can follow the Love Trentham Trail through the gardens and uncover a few favourite views, peaceful corners, and hidden gems. Along the way, you’ll be inspired by personal picks from people who know Trentham best – where they go, what they love, and how they enjoy the gardens. It is an opportunity to see Trentham a little differently.

A firm family favourite, Trentham Estate is always a reliable choice for February half term.

With plenty to keep all ages entertained, Trentham Gardens makes for an excellent family day out. Families can enjoy a scenic walk around the lake, let children burn off energy in the adventure playground, or take a break at the Trentham Shopping Village, where cafés and restaurants are perfect for cake and hot chocolate.

For something a little different, the enchanting Fairy Trail invites visitors to search for the much-loved fairies hidden around the lake, adding an extra layer of magic to the visit.

An annual membership offers great value for those who return regularly, while day tickets can be purchased in advance online.

3. Lambs and Ewe at Lower Drayton Farm, Staffordshire

Lower Drayton Farm is always a perfect option to entertain the kids.Set on a 750 acre working farm there is plenty to see and do both indoors and outdoors. This half term head to the farm for a family day out that’s as educational as it is fun. From February half term their popular Lambs & Ewe event returns to the farm. With over 100 ewes due to give birth on the farm, the lambing barn will be bustling from February through to the Easter break

There is also a 2000sqm indoor play barn featuring Astro racing slides, gravity drop slides, traverse climbing wall and much more. There is also a baby area dedicated to littlies under 1 and a toddler play space packed with imaginative role-play opportunities and lots of climbing, sliding, spinning fun for under-5s with energy to burn ensures hours of fun for all ages. 

Outdoor activities include racing zipwires, grass toboggans, bouncy pillows, treetop towers climbing frame, sand and water play and Farm-u-la One go-karts. There is also a chance to pet-friendly rabbits and Guinea Pigs, and see other farmyard favourites.

Lambing is included with PLAY@ admission from February half term until the Easter break, and the price depends on when you visit. During February half term 2026, tickets are £13.95 per person, which includes the lambing experience and full access to PLAY@.

4. Pottery Painting

February half term is a good time to head off to one of the many places where you can paint a pot in Staffordshire. We are huge fans of Amerton Pottery, World of Wedgwood, Emma Bridgwater and Middleport pottery who all welcome kids of all ages for pottery painting.

  • Amerton Glaze Craze – Paint a Pot studio hold some great themed events for kids that are ticket only. On Monday 16th February head over to read ZOG and thus time you will have a choice of character to paint! Tickets are £12 per child. To book here

  • World of Wedgwood have plenty of things to do for kids, including play with clay, or a half term pottery painting in the Decorating Studio. Book tickets here

5. Trentham Monkey Forest

After being closed over the winter months, Trentham Monkey Forest reopens on 14 February 2026 in time for the half term school holidays.

For those who have not visited before, the Monkey Forest is an excellent family-friendly day out in Staffordshire and one that appeals to all ages. This unique attraction allows visitors to walk among 140 Barbary macaques roaming freely across 60 acres of beautiful Staffordshire woodland, offering a memorable and educational experience in a natural setting.

6. National Forest Adventure Farm

The National Forest Adventure Farm, located in Burton upon Trent, is a fantastic family attraction offering an abundance of farm animals alongside a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages.

During February half term, from Sunday 16th February to Sunday 20th February 2026, there will be plenty on offer for visiting families, making it a great option for a full day out. Tickets can be booked in advance online for the latest event details.

The farm also runs February half-term day camps for children aged 4–12 years. These camps offer a fun-filled, farm-themed experience, with activities ranging from indoor soft play and outdoor adventure zones to visits to the animal barn and go-karting. Food and drink are included. Prices are typically around £31 for a half day or £47 for a full day, with booking details available online.

7. Pirate Takeover at Alton Towers

Ahoy swashbucklers! Discover buried treasure this February Half Term when you set sail to Pirate Takeover at Alton Towers Resort or be prepared to walk the plank! ​

Live out your own pirate story, whether you’re visiting us for swashbuckling days out or staying over for an unforgettable short break, as the infamous pirates of Mutiny Bay take over the Resort from the 14th to 22nd February 2026.

Budding buccaneers can join in the fun on an exciting pirate adventure with galleons of fun for the whole family to enjoy including the UK’s only CBeebies Land where families can make fantabulous memories and meet some of their favourite CBeebies friends!

8. Down the Hole Mini Golf, Affinity Shopping Centre

Step into a world of wonder at Down The Hole Mini Golf, a FREE event for kids taking place at Affinity Staffordshire. This indoor adventure is inspired by the magical world of Alice in Wonderland with a mini golf course. No booking required.

9. National Memorial Arboretum

The National Memorial Arboretum is a 150-acre visitor site on the edge of the National Forest in Staffordshire. Over the Staffordshire February half term between 10am and 4pm, there are a number of free or low cost activities on offer and an outdoor play area that are all perfect to entertain the kids.

10. K-Pop Takeover at Drayton Manor Resort

11. Visit Staffordshire Wildlife Trust events over February half term

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust are holding various events throughout the February half term, including Hem Heath Woods, Gentleshaw Common, and The Wolseley Centre.

12. Watch a film at Mitchell Arts Centre or Vue
