Autumn in Staffordshire is a wonderful time to get outdoors. Enjoy long walks through colourful leaves before warming up with a hot chocolate or coffee in a cosy café or pub. Alongside the seasonal scenery, October half term 2025 brings a host of Halloween events and family activities across the county. Here’s our round-up of what’s on in Staffordshire.

1. Scarefest at Alton Towers

Back by popular demand is the award winning Scarefest at Alton Towers. Wander around Alton Towers Resort for all sorts of creepy scares and shocks! Open until 9pm each day daring guests can face the head-spinning, hair-raising rides and attractions in darkness including Wicker Man and The Smiler! 2. World of Wedgwood

Visit the World of Wedgwood in Stoke-on-Trent during selected times when they open their Decorating Studio to allow you to get creative with pottery painting! You can choose from various shapes and sizes to paint, including hanging decorations, pots, vases, lanterns, animals and even unicorns (subject to availability). You can opt for water-based paints so that you can take your item home the same day or choose the option to glaze and fire, and collect your masterpiece at a later date.
3. Tunstall Farm Park Pumpkins & Alpacas

Bring your wellies and head over to Tunstall Farm Park Pumpkins & Alpacas with over 2000 pumpkins to choose from and then say hello to Wetley Moor Alpacas. You can also add a mini alpaca treks around the farm for an additional fee. There will be farm animals to meet, face painting, photo opportunities, and crafts too. Food and drinks will be on site, and an undercover seating area is available too.


4. SnowDome Tamworth

Visit the SnowDome this October half term, as it transforms into a world of spooky snow and chilling ice. From magical family adventures to daring thrills on the rink, discover two unmissable Halloween experiences – Frights on Ice and Hocus Snowcus!
Howcus Snowcus is a snow-filled Halloween experience just for little ones and their grown-ups. You can slide and play in real snow, experience the witches world, and there are treats for little monsters.
5. Screamfest at National Forest Adventure Farm
24th October to 1st November (closed Monday 27th October)

Screamfest is a Halloween attraction at the National Forest Adventure Farm, with scare attractions, including:
- Insomnia
- Creed Farm
- Hillbilly Joes Zombie zoo
- Freak out on tour
- Area 52
- There is also fairground rides, food and drink and live music and entertainment.
Please note, this is a scary experience and not recommended for under 16s. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.
6. Spooktacular Halloween at Drayton Manor
25th October to 2nd November

Drayton Manor transforms into a spooky wonderland this October, with rides in the dark, trick-or-treat trails, live shows, and plenty of family-friendly frights. Expect pumpkins, decorations, and themed entertainment across the park, making it one of Staffordshire’s biggest Halloween celebrations.

Magical Beasts: Dragon training

Come face to face with an enchanting dragon, take part in some dragon egg “zooming” and prepare to be amazed as real-life magic is performed in front of your very eyes!

8. Trentham Estate Halloween Half term in the gardens

Visit Trentham Estate this October Half Term, for spooky family-friendly fun!
See professionally carved pumpkins along a dazzling trail, then strike a pose on the Selfie Trail, Test your skills in the interactive Who Done It? challenge and don’t forget to stop by at the face painter. Little witches and wizards can enroll in Witch and Wizard School, where completing magical tasks earns them a graduation certificate.
9. Tamworth Castle

Halloween Monster Caper – Something strange is a foot at the Castle this Halloween… the mischievous monsters have tricked their way inside the Castle! This half term bring along your brave monster hunters to help to track them down!
Included in general admission and no pre-booking required but you can pre-book tickets.
On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October only, you will see the return of the Makers Market, where you can browse handcrafted gifts and creations.

- Tree of Life Wreath Workshop at The Wolseley Centre. Friday 31 October 2025, 1.30 – 4pm. £10 per person. Booking essential. Suitable for adults and children age 10+
- Bioblitz at The Roaches. Friday 31 October 2025. 10:30am – 3:00pm. Free. No booking required – drop in any time between 10.30am – 12.30pm or 1 – 3pm. Stay all day if you like, bring along some lunch. Suitable for all ages – children must attend with an adult and be supervised at all time
11. Keele Student Union: HALLOWEEN FAMILY RAVE (Happyface)

Happyface brings the energy of a nightclub to a family-friendly setting, complete with lights, music, and plenty of spooky fun. Dance together to a soundtrack of club classics and modern anthems at this Halloween Family Rave, where both kids and adults can enjoy the party atmosphere.
12. Stafford Castle Halloween Craft and Trail Workshop

Stafford Castle is hosting its annual children’s Halloween Craft Workshop. Head to Stafford Castle to create your very own Halloween craft to take home, and follow their spooky trail around the Castle site too.
£5 per child. Pay on entry, no need to pre book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
13. Trentham Monkey Forest

Trentham Monkey Forest closes for Winter on the 2nd of November so head to the forest over October half term for spooky season.
There will be a free inclusive Halloween quiz for your little ones to take part in, and of course the beautiful free roaming Barbary macaques to entertain you!

14. The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery

Ozzy Owls Spooky Spell Trail is at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery during October half term. Ozzy Owl is casting a spooky spell. He needs 12 ingredients from around the museum for the spell to be completed. Can you find them all?
£1.50 per trail and includes a free Ozzy Owl pencil.
15 Wellbeing Witches Magic School, The Potteries Centre, Hanley

Children can join the wonderful Wellbeing Witches for a spellbinding experience, creating their own magical potions, meeting the witches, dressing up as their favourite characters, and enjoying juice and biscuits with friends. It promises a sprinkle of magic, fun, and wellbeing.
16. Lower Drayton Farm, Staffordshire

Head to Lower Drayton Farm in Staffordshire over October half term and discover their pick your own pumpkin patch with a huge variety of pumpkins, mini pumpkins and white pumpkins. Even better – you can carve your pumpkin in their indoor carving barn meaning absolutely no mess at home!
